In May, about 4,000 employees in the computer industry lost their employment as a result of AI.

Due to AI, 4,000 individuals lost their employment.

Around 4,000 workers lost their employment in May of this year as a result of artificial intelligence, according to a Business Insider article that was initially credited to a monthly study by Challenger, Grey, and Christmas. A total of 80,000 workers lost their employment last month, according to the data. 3,900 of these positions were eliminated due to AI. Economic conditions, cost-cutting initiatives, organisational restructuring within the business, or mergers and acquisitions may be the causes of more job layoffs.

The study also included information on all layoffs from 2023 until the present. Approximately 4 lakh individuals lost their employment between January and May.

Additionally, a representative told Insider that this was the first instance in which employment losses were linked to AI.

ChatGPT is replacing people at work.

In a February 2018 survey conducted by the employment website Resumebuilder.com, it was discovered that certain US-based companies have started employing ChatGPT in place of actual personnel.

The poll included 1,000 company executives, and over half of the US organisations indicated they were using ChatGPT and that the chatbot had replaced employees at their businesses.

According to a statement made at the time by Resumebuilder, business leaders were 'impressed' by the work of the well-known chatbot. According to the firm, most corporate executives are impressed with ChatGPT's work in general. 34% of respondents believe ChatGPT's work is very excellent, while 55% believe it is of exceptional quality.

Stacie Haller, the Chief Career Advisor at Resumebuilder.com, was cited in a Business Today article as saying, "There is a lot of enthusiasm about the usage of ChatGPT. Since the use of this new technology in the workplace is still in its early stages, employees should be considering how it could change the duties of their existing position.

Additionally, ChatGPT's founder Sam Altman stated in an interview from March that one profession that ChatGPT may take the place of was customer service.
